If you work with an LGBTQ+ person aged 18 or over living in Lancashire or South Cumbria, you can refer them to one of the services below, or support them to self-refer.
One to One Support
Lancashire LGBT’s one-to-one support service offers emotional and wellbeing support to LGBTQ+ people aged 18 and over, living in the Lancashire and South Cumbria areas.
This service is delivered remotely by Lancashire LGBT’s support worker. Our support worker is DBS checked and fully qualified, and has lived experience of being LGBTQ+.
One to one support is ideal for individuals looking for support tailored to their support needs, which can focus on various aspects of wellbeing.
The support worker will work in collaboration with you to:
- uncover your strengths
- set personal goals
- develop action plans to achieve them
They also encourage you to:
- take ownership of your own wellbeing
- support you to make positive changes aligned with your values and desires
The support worker will do:
- regular mental health assessments to track your progress
- help you identify areas of improvement
- offer a range of wellbeing coaching tasks that are tailored to your specific support needs
Counselling
Lancashire LGBT’s counselling service offers emotional and wellbeing support to LGBTQ+ people aged 18 and over, living in the Lancashire and South Cumbria areas.
This service is delivered remotely (telephone/online video call) by Lancashire LGBT volunteer counsellors. This is a team of student counsellors, with lived experience of being LGBTQ+.
All our volunteer counsellors are undertaking a degree in counselling and are on placement with us, or have graduated and are fully-qualified counsellors. They are all DBS checked and are members of the BACP (British Association for Councillors and Psychotherapists) or UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy.
Topics your client might want to discuss with their counsellor:
- Depression and anxiety
- Isolation
- Gender or sexual identity issues
- Self-confidence
- Self-acceptance
- Self-esteem
- Coming out
- Sexual relationship issues
- Relationship difficulties
Self-referral and third-party referral
To access either service your client can fill out our self-referral form, or you can refer them to the service as a third party.
Please note we close these services for new referrals once our waiting list meets capacity. If the referral portal is closed, or you are not able to select a service on the referral form, that means we have temporarily closed it, and will reopen it when the waiting list reduces.
