This time last year, Lancashire LGBT hosted Queer Britain at the Lancashire Archives in Preston. (Read about the workshop here). This visit was part of a series of visits to LGBTQ+ communities across the country, where local LGBTQ+ people were welcomed into arts and heritage institutions by Queer Britain to share local queer histories, and contribute to discussions of LGBTQ+ inclusion in arts and cultural spaces. It was an exercise in a living queer archive.

This week Queer Britain have published the document which emerged out of these conversations. It is called the “Amplifying LGBTQ+ Voices Toolkit” and you can read it here.

You can also listen to the new “Quilt podcast” created by Aunt Nell which platforms and celebrates the stories shared in the workshops. Episode 2 draws on the conversations shared in the Preston workshop with Lancashire LGBT. You can listen to the Quilt podcast here. You can also listen and download the podcast on Spotify.

We are extremely touched by the stories shared in the podcast and the lessons put forward in the toolkit. Thanks to Queer Britain and everyone who joined us at the Archives last year.
