We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded £476,859 of funding over the next three years from the Big Lottery Fund’s Reaching Communities funding stream, for its new With Out Barriers project.
The project will connect lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGB&T) communities across the county, providing various health and well-being activities as well as volunteering opportunities in partnership with other organisations. The project will also provide specific support services for transgender people and their families.
Specific features of the project will include:
- An information and support helpline
- A programme of community activities focusing on mental health and reducing social isolation
- Practical workshops and a befriending network for transgender people
Our Chair, Carolyn Mercer, said: “Much has improved in the information and resources available for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and/or Transgender people across our county. Lancashire LGBT’s work has been recognised for its contributions to date by this significant grant and can now add to its services to help individuals, their families and the wider community.”
